Funding Opportunity

Learning at Emily Carr takes place inside and beyond the classroom.

Professional Development

Professional development is an important component of graduate studies at Emily Carr and is supported through extensive relationships with industry leaders, studio visits and critiques with leading artists, curators and designers, and sponsorship of internships and research initiatives.

Students interested in pedagogical practices and mentorship can participate in Teaching Assistantships. Teaching Assistants work directly with faculty on undergraduate course delivery. These are paid positions supported by specifically-designated teaching and learning resources. Students who successfully complete a Teaching Assistantship in their first year of study can then apply for a Teaching Fellow position.

Students seeking to expand and further their research experience are paired with faculty with similar research objectives. This paid position, located in studio or lab settings, involves primary and secondary research including: literature review, exploration through material practice, participatory engagement with community, and assistance with new technologies.

Scholarships + Awards

To recognize high academic achievement and creative potential, a limited number of graduate entrance scholarships are offered to incoming students. The Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies will award applicants based on merit as expressed in their application.

For enrolled students, the University also awards scholarships and bursaries that recognize ongoing scholarly development and excellence, as well as financial need.
